Welcome to JYOTI, an enduring and unique Youth Movement. Under the patronage of Jamshedpur Jesuit Province, JYOTI (Jamshedpur Youth Organization for Tomorrow’s India), a youth platform of High School and College students was initiated in January of 1971. Now this Movement has completed 50 years (January, 1971—January, 2021), in the formation of youth besides engaging them in humanitarian services. It was formed inadvertently after the First Youth Camp held from 14 to 19 December, 1970. Since then, efforts have been kept up to mold our youth into agents of social change through its main three-fold objectives—Students’ Fellowship, Leadership Training and Humanitarian Service. This Youth Movement has a track record of engaging itself in the Refugee Service on the borders of East Bangladesh during the Indo-Pak War of 1971 in reaching out to people affected by war. Since its inception, it continued to immerse itself responding to many emergencies like riots, cyclones, floods and the like in the neighboring States of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam. These works have been the main focus of JYOTI over 5 decades. Today, guided by its Motto “To Lead is to Serve with Love” and the ever-ready attitude, this Movement surges ahead in carrying out humanitarian services on the basis of small Units operating in 20 prominent institutions in Jamshedpur and Saraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand State.

The Golden Jubilee Celebration of JYOTI in March, 2022 was indeed an occasion to rejoice and acknowledge the efforts of charged-up-yester-year-youths, and to recognize the dedication of innumerable Moderators, come and gone during its 50 years of existence in the Steel City of Jamshedpur. This platform has grown by leaps and bounds over 50 years making it the only common platform for extracurricular life of youths. In areas of humanitarian services, this Organization has done yeomen service in responding to many emergencies of natural and manmade calamities.
